TVMA stands for The Void Martial Arts. To us, the name is a reminder to leave room for learning. You may arrive with experience, questions, or no idea what to expect. At our Taekwondo school in Lake in the Hills, we practice staying curious, listening to one another, and being willing to try again.

TVMA stands for: The Void Martial Arts
A name that honors both tradition and transcendence.
Our roots are firmly planted in Taekwondo, the art of the Korean spirit, discipline, respect, and indomitable will. Yet, our branches reach outward, embracing the universal truths found across all martial paths.
The Void, as described in ancient philosophy, is not nothingness, it is the state where all things originate. Just as silence gives meaning to sound and stillness gives power to movement, The Void is the unseen source from which every strike, block, and breath arises.
Through training, we learn to quiet the noise, to strike not from anger, but from awareness; to move not in haste, but in harmony.
This is The Way of The Void, to go beyond the technique, to discover the spirit behind the form.

Beyond Boundaries
The Void transcends language, style, and culture.
Whether the wisdom comes from the Korean dojang, the Japanese dojo, or the ancient battlefield writings of the samurai, its truth remains the same: mastery is not bound by nationality, it is a universal pursuit of human potential.
Just as the Book of Five Rings ends with the Book of the Void, so too does our training journey end not in completion, but in awakening. The black belt is not the summit, it is the horizon. When the student reaches black belt, they return to the beginning, standing once again before the great unknown.
